Am I a bad mom?
The boys are super happily entertained right now, and I am in the other room not involved. Dominick is in the bathtub, talking and splashing about--so I know he's not drowning. Xander is on the potty playing with a leap frog learn your numbers bus. I have to say I have never been a fan of these learning/noise making electronic toys BUT he choose it at Grammie and Pawpa's Easter extravaganza. And he loves it. This is the second night he's played it for the entire potty time. That is a pretty amazing toy. And if I were in the same room it might drive me insane, but happily I can be in here watching Beastie Boy videos while they are entertaining themselves. And I guess each other as Dominick's British accent has made its appearance and is speaking to the bus. Maybe he has gone crazy.

Four Years Ago Today . . .
Dear Xander entered our world. Seems like such a short time ago. Today we went to see Dr. Warder, the neurosurgeon who gave Xander his angel, gave Xander his life. Seemed kind of fitting--although mostly who wants to go to the doctor on your birthday!
It was a really nice day that started with presents in the morning and banana muffins shared at school. I picked him up early and we went to the doctors. He was so grown-up. He checks himself in. And he told everyone it was his birthday and that he was 4. He had a bit of trouble wrapping his head around not being three this morning, but by the afternoon he was all about being 4.
After a favorite dinner of mac & cheese, we all went to Xander's school for Open House. So much fun, so many great people. Love all his little friends. Everyone sang Happy Birthday. We have lots of offers for playdates.
A very good day.

So long Red Fin
Our first casualty of the fish tank--the albino catfishy looking Red Fin died just over the 48 hour mark. The boys buried him in the yard. Dominick was fine--upset a bit but Xander was quite sad. After the burial he suggested they play some baseball to help him feel better.
RainForest and Leopard are both still hanging on--we added a castle hide out which RainForest loves and Xander picked a purple skull. We haven't caught anyone swimming in the skull which has been another sadness for poor Xander.

A Fishy Day
My dad called today and asked if we wanted to go fishing. We were already on the way to the pet store to buy our much waited for fish. When we came home with our three new creatures Gramps was waiting for us. We put Leopard (fancy male guppy), Red Fin (an albino cora-something), and Rain Forest (a dawrf frog) in their new tank.
We found a local park with fishing--it was more of a river and the fishing didn't last too long. But there was a park nearby complete with a family playing a crazy hide-and-seek/ tag game that kept both boys running.
Hoping they are tired out enough to sleep!

Spring Break
Hooray! Dominick and I are both on Spring Break. Today I'm watching the virtual reference for two hours but other than that we've been playing, running errands, cooking, reading. It has been really wonderful.
Last weekend we went to Chicago for my cousin's wedding. It was fabulous. We stayed in a posh hotel downtown. The wedding was lots of fun. Xander danced and danced and danced. His highlight was dancing with the bride.
My new toy (ipod touch) is now up and working--Dominick's playing Angry birds right now--such educational enrichment!
